Winter Showcase 2015

I want to thank our staff and camp families for their support of the Winter Showcase – both those who were there and those who were there in spirit. The event was a success in many ways. In launching the tradition of the Winter Showcase, we delivered a high quality performance that was enjoyed by new and returning campers, parents and staff. The energy displayed on stage by our staff and leadership campers demonstrated that the spirit of Camp Kawartha is not limited to our site, but is harnessed within each of us throughout the year. Dave Lewis aka Squeeze must be is congratulated for taking his vision and bringing our favourite camp traditions to the stage for a highly entertaining 2 hour show. It might have been Maple Jack at its finest and sadly, its last performance under the Camp Kawartha banner.  The show was enjoyed by everyone who came out and like a traditional campfire, participation spanned across the stage onto the audience. The show opened with a new campfire tradition called A Day at Camp Kawartha and ended with the “candlelighting,” finale Linger. The Winter Showcase also became the unofficial launch of Summer 2015 as the staff and leadership campers came together for their first time to be collectively creative with the expected Camp Kawartha result of a high energy, fun and rewarding representation of what makes us who we are. “Make new friends and keep the old.” We look forward to another amazing summer and seeing you all at camp. We are counting down the days!!
