As a Summer Camp Director, it is my goal and mission to help campers discover the joys of overnight camp, grow as responsible individuals and have the best experience possible. This is deeply rooted in my own experiences as an overnight camper for 8 years and as a staff member at over a half dozen camps. Camp is an environment to develop your skills, grow your emotional intelligence, discover what you love and raise your expectations for life.
Camp Kawartha is a special place as it’s a child-focused, caring community that is committed to your child’s growth and individual needs. It is staffed by life-long campers who grew up at Camp Kawartha and infused with staff from other camps and workplaces bringing their positive attitudes and winning ways to our team. We value our partnerships with parents and families and the opportunities to help your children grow through risk-taking in a safe and supportive environment.
2016 promises to be incredible and I cannot remember being more excited for an upcoming summer. An experienced returning staff offers opportunities to grow and build on the successes from last summer. Exciting new program offerings include our Intermediates program, a new 3-week program for 11-12 year olds and an Overnight program that allow campers from 6-9 years old to “try-out” camp. We have added an additional session to Kinder Camp, our 3.5-5 year old day camp for Kindergarten and pre-Kindergarten campers, and are bring back our PLC-extension program as a 4th week option for PLC campers who crave a final week of adrenaline themed activities.
We also invite you all to our 2nd Annual Winter Showcase in Toronto in February featuring our staff and alumni. This reunion/meet & greet/variety show event gives families a taste of Camp Kawartha programming and the unique spirit that it captures. Tickets and further information is available on our website.
Thank you for choosing Camp Kawartha and giving us the awesome responsibility of looking after your child(ren). One of our favourite parts of the job is talking with families, helping them with choosing a program and answering questions on anything to do with camp. Paige Mahoney-Nagle is our Camp Registrar, former camper, staff member and “camp ambassador”. She can answer any questions you may have and is available year round in the office (Mon-Fri 9-5pm) and by email at paige@campkawartha.ca. You can also always feel free to e-mail me at adam@campkawartha.ca.
We look forward to an unforgettable summer!!
